City Links Leaders’ Forum feedback:

Thanks so much to all of you who were able to get through the snow & attend yesterdays Leaders’ Forum event.

For those who were unable to come, we will be putting the CD’s in our City Links web site shop soon & also hopefully making a DVD available.

It was a great day & we have had some good feedback but would love to hear your comments; please send any feedback to aaa email address link.

We have posted a link below to show how people from Greater Manchester can access information about their local Neighbourhood Policing teams, if you go to the tab named “Neighbourhood Policing” it gives a link to every borough in Manchester:

We were especially thrilled to have visitors from outside of Manchester with us from as far away as Ipswich! Also from Reading, Cambridgeshire, Nottingham, and London.

A brief summary of the day: We heard from Chief Constable Peter Fahy of GMP, who was introduced by Chief Superintendent Neil Wain from Stockport Police. Peter emphasized the need for Christians to act locally. Then Anthony Delaney from Ivy Manchester interviewed retired police officer John Peters about how he became a Christian during his time with GMP & how God helped him detect crime! Debra Green, Director of City Links, spoke about the history of “Redeeming Our Communities” and the current vision to work strategically with 10 cities. More details are on the City Links web site, where you can also download a “Step by Step Guide” of how churches and police can work together. There was a time of discussion in small groups & then each group fed back some key points which will be published on our web site soon.  Lynn Swart led a time of worship & response. We then heard from a local Neighbourhood Inspector, David Henthorne from Salford Police who wants to work with Salford churches!

In the afternoon Hannah Latty spoke about Betel www.betel.co.uk
a National organisation helping people with drug addiction and Phil shared about how his life had been changed after years of mis-using drugs. Betel are hoping to set up a base in Manchester. Hannah writes:
'Betel are really grateful for the on-going support of churches and community groups around Greater Manchester. Please contact Hannah Latty or Emily Birch hannah@latty.org.uk
if you would like the 5-10 minute Betel presentation at your gathering. We would love to be able to raise more prayer and support and encourage people about the lives being changed

Chief Constable Matt Baggott from Leicestershire Police spoke about opportunities for churches and police to work together.  He mentioned The Battle of Kruger, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU8DDYz68kM
This is a powerful illustration of the need to protect the vulnerable in our society. Matt spoke about how you can put your postcode in and it gives you your local Neighbourhood Police officer by using this link:
His full talk will be available soon.

We spent some time praying for the police and then praying for the different ministries who were exhibiting: Street Pastors, Christian Police Association, Betel, Care for the Family, Refresh FM, UCB, Hope Manchester,
The Nazarene College, World Harvest Bible Church and Tearfund. Thanks to World Harvest Bible Church for hosting our event!
