The story so far...

A number of people from Birmingham were amongst the guests at the Echo Arena for the launch of Redeeming Our Communities: Merseyside on June 16th 2009. Debra Green, National Director of Redeeming Our Communities, was then invited to meet some church and civic leaders in Birmingham.

In September 2009 initial discussions took place with representatives from The City Council, West Midlands Police, community groups and the church. A subsequent meeting was arranged for October 16th 2009 when Debra met with Cllr Alan Rudge,  Bishop Derek Webley (Chair of the Police Authority), and Bishop David Urquhart., Bishop of Birmingham The meeting was hosted by Guy Hordern and Mike Royal, who are working alongside Debra to plan a launch event in Birmingham, which is booked for November 16th 2010.

 

IMG6318On October 17th 2009 Debra spoke at an event at the NEC organised by the World Prayer Centre. She gave an update on how Redeeming Our Communities had progressed since the national launch in 2006.


Debra interviewed Tim Godwin from West Midlands Police and spoke about the  launch in Birmingham in November 2010.

 

A series of ROC Conversations took place in March 2010 in various locations around Birmingham and many people pledged their support for ROC Birmingham.

 

A Council of Reference, led by Bishop David Urquhart and Bishop Derek Webley, formed to guide the Steering Group. A series of ROC Conversations took place in March.
