ROC Conversations Radcliffe, 5 April 2011
Over 80 people attended last evening's ROC Conversations, mostly from the local community including: Headteachers from local schools, 3 Councillors, Chief Inspector Carol Martin and members of Bury Police, Lee Coleman Bury Fire Station commander and members of the fire service, local church leaders, community activists, reps from Bury youth and children’s services, local residents and lots of young people.
Our thanks go to those who attended the event and to Rev Andy Williams from St Andrew’s Radcliffe who kindly helped to organise the evening as well as Bev Meadowcroft from Bury Youth Services for hosting us. ROC National Director, Debra Green, and ROC Partnership Development Manager Alan Saunders co-led the evening which included a discussion about the needs of the community and how to work together towards the greater good.
ROC is a national charity which aims to bring people together for the benefit of the community and one of the projects discussed was the ROC Café. For more information about how you can support our work financially, please follow this link.
One of the main aims of the evening was to consider the future of the Y-Zone community/youth centre which is due to close in the summer due to cut-backs. It is proposed that ROC will continue to run the centre after the summer, and the centre will be run by a local management group.
Below is a downloadable report with the main topics of discussion and hope you will feed back your thoughts as we endeavour to work towards the goals outlined.
