Redeeming Our Communities Prayer Bulletin - January 2006
In 2004 City Links began the Redeeming Our Communities (ROC) initiative in the North West. ROC aims to see crime reduction and community transformation by encouraging various bodies to work together. One year after our launch we have seen violent crime in Manchester fall by 11.5%, bucking the national trend! Now leading police officers, politicians and church leaders have encouraged us to launch ROC throughout the UK in 2006.
We believe that ROC will be as significant for the nation as it has been for the North West. We are delighted to be hosting the launch event along with The World Prayer Centre, The Message Trust and Prayer Week. Police officers, politicians, church leaders and thousands of Christians from around the UK will join together to celebrate progress in transforming communities, share ideas and inspiration, and pray for our nation. The Chief Constable of Leicestershire, Matthew Baggott, has given the initiative his full backing and will be amongst the VIP guests on May 13th.
We expect the Birmingham launch event to act as a catalyst for change around the UK, and City Links will continue to coordinate the ongoing promotion of prayer and action in communities around the country, together with our many partners. More information about this in item 3.
