EKCO Trust (East Kenya Christian Outreach)

ekco

The EKCO Trust is a charity which was set up with the primary aim to tell as many people as possible in East Kenya the good news of Jesus Christ!

Latest update from the Autumn '08 Newsletter...

School

The school is flourishing at the moment, there are approx 101 children attending the school from the age 2-11 and there are now 11 members of STAFF.  We now have 41 of the childeren sponsored, praise God! This means we can buy much needed resources for the school and continue to support the sponsored children fully. During the summer, there has been a few people from England on holiday in Kenya who have been in touch with EKCO and agreed to sponsor children, and also pay for a floor and partitions for the school. Currently all the 101 children are learning in just 2 Classroomrooms. The next school year starts in January, please pray for money to pay 2, new extra teachers and also for enough money to build 2 further much needed classrooms and for improvement to the toilets.  The school is currently in the process of being registered with the Kenyan Government, but in order for them to be accepted the toilet facilities need to be improved.

 Bible College

"A bible college has now started at the school during the afternoons.  The students meet every day for 3 hours to stufy the bible.  This is vital to ensure they are not misled by false teachings.  Many of those on the course will become future pastors and start new churches."

If you would like to sponsor a student in the bible college, please contact the ECKO Trust.

EKCO orphanage

"After a recent visit in October the ECKO Trust discovered thay there are a growing number of orphans at the school.  We are planning to purchase a plot of land and construct an orphanage.  In the meantime we are hoping to rent rooms in a house so that we can start to take childeren in.  It costs around £40 per month, per child, to provide decent accommodation, healthy food and employ a 'mum and dad' to look after them."

Church

The church now has over 150 members and is growing weekly. They are commited to evangelism and hold small open air events every Sunday evening to preach the Gospel. We have been able to send the Pastor to a special training course in Nairobi and are equipping him with good resources o teach the church. The church finally has electricity so they can have evening meetings and all night prayer meetings called Kaisha's. They are extremely grateful for all your prayer and financial support and are praying for all of you fervently, that we would see God's revival over here. They still have a long way to go in terms of building work and resources etc, so please pray for the money to come in.
