Endorsements:

Cllr Alan Rudge, Birmingham City Council, says: "I am delighted to be supporting this event on behalf of Birmingham City Council, working with West Midlands Police, Church Leaders and other partners.

This Christian led event will provide an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the important role and contribution we all play in making Birmingham the great City it is."

Bishop of Birmingham, David Urquhart says: “The Big Society calls for a big response and I believe the Church is ready to do just that. ROC Birmingham aims to bring together the ‘urban trinity’ of church, city council and police to promote flourishing neighbourhoods, lower crime rate and Christians’ engagement within their localities.”

As Birmingham City Council and West Midlands Police face major cutbacks they have welcomed the opportunity to partner with the city’s churches to support local public services.

Assistant Chief Constable Gordon Scobbie, West Midlands Police says: "Given where we are with the financial environment and the threat to frontline policing, it's even more important now than ever that we build and unlock capacity within our communities, with our police officers working together with volunteers and the Christian network, protecting the frontline by mobilizing people within the community to help.”
(ACC Scobbie is now with Teeside Police)
