ROC Lenzie and Kirkintilloch

Press Release - 16th February 2012

Jo Swinson MP for East Dunbartonshire recently met with Suze Bickerton and Sergeant Shona MacKay of Strathclyde Police, from the charity group Redeeming Our Communities (ROC), about plans to extend ROC Projects into Lenzie and Kirkintilloch.

The Lenzie and Kirkintilloch planning group met towards the end of last year with 80 members of the community including police officers, councillors, fire service personnel and voluntary services to discuss what could be done to bring together people of goodwill to work towards a safer, kinder community. Jo Swinson MP met with members of the group at Lenzie Union Parish Church as they planned a community safety presentation, "Who's Ringing You Bell?"

Jo Swinson MP commented - "It was good to hear about the great work that ROC already does around the country, and what they're hoping to do in this area. A greater sense of community spirit can go a long way towards crime and disorder reduction and enhanced community spirit and I applaud their efforts."

Suze Bickerton commented - "ROC has done fantastic work in communities across England and we are excited to be bringing their ethos to Scotland with this event and others."
