'ROC Conversations' are part of our new strategy for working within a city or region. They are evening events which bring together members of local communities, including representatives from the church and police. We have found it helpful to base the localities on existing police divisions.

The evenings give plenty of opportunity for discussion based on themes such as 'What are the local needs?', 'What is happening already?' and 'What could be done through working together?'  We have developed a menu of ideas (available in the Resource section) to give inspiration of what projects could be possible, though we recognise that each area has unique needs and therefore needs a unique response.

 

The 'ROC Conversations' model is currently being pioneered across Greater Manchester, and we launched the first ROC Conversations in Maghull, Merseyside in February, another one planned for West Kirby in May, ROC Conversations in Birmingham took place in March and plans are underway for London.

"Ten of us from LifeChurch attended the Trafford ‘ROC Conversation’, and in truth probably went with fairly low expectations of the benefits the evening might provide for us! However we came away having renewed relationships, or initiated, new ones with other Trafford churches, Ambassadors in Sport, the Police and the ROC Team. For example, our young Stretford-based mission team forged some really helpful links with their local Police Officers; and our Sale community projects coordinator will now be taking part in a regular networking meeting between a number of the Sale churches, having agreed the value of greater cooperation.
