City-wide prayer feedback!!

We were delighted to welcome Barak Okiro to Manchester on May 20th for a city-wide celebration!

He spoke powerfully from Nehemiah Chapter 1 about praying & fasting for our city!

He made a special emphasis about "weeping" and how this releases power to change our community.

Nakuru in Kenya has seen an amazing out pouring of God's spirit.

We had the sense that this evening was the beginnings of somthing new in Manchester!!

Quotes from May 20th:

"God will make Manchester great in the things of the spirit as you are in football!"

"Nehemiah humbled himself in prayer. But prayer is not enough. We have to weep, like Nehemiah did and like Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Nehemiah paid a price for what he wanted to see. He left his comfort zone and went to see the King. He faced opposition bt still pressed on. If we are prepared to pay the price God will give us the city."

Nakuru Conference Prophecy

flag

Barak Okiro has been hosting a prophetic conference in Kenya. The following is part of a lengthy e-mail received from Barak reporting back. It starts off with a prophetic word that came out of the conference for the UK. I should add the intercessors (over 300) gathered purely to intercede for the UK.

"Britain I love, you are the apple of my eyes in Europe.
Your poverty willsoon be over, your children will soon
dance joyfully holding the hands of their mothers.
Their stomachs will be full and their hearts merry.
The city and village fathers will soon declare the
beginning of a new season-the rainy season.
It will not be just like any other rainy season that
England has had before. It will be a mighty rain-
it shall pour instead of raining.

Now is the time to prepare for the harvest.

2007 is the year of preparation and 2008 the rains
shall pour mightily. Let those with small grain stores
enlarge their territories now for the harvest shall be
plentiful. But for now I have some thing against you
England, I hate your deception, I hate your bloody
hands and your idolatry. Return to me, rent your
hearts not your garments. Uphold Holiness, purity and
righteousness." Said the Lord of Hosts.

After this prophesy we all cried to the Lord to have mercy on Britain. We stood on the gap and repented for England. Over 300 hundred intercessor and prayer generals gather in my small church in Nakuru to intercede for the church in Britain and the coming revival. We pulled down all sorts of deceptions that are currently ruling and reigning in the UK.

The message is clear, there is still a lot to be done by you saints in the UK, at the same time God has also decided and purposed to bring revival in your country.  I wish you were here to repent on behalf of the British people or your country. Spread the news that God is in your land and that revival is surely coming.

Another thing you can be sure of is that we your brethrens in Kenya are praying for you. Together, we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus our Lord and saviour.

Just an encouragement - I am really excited about what I have seen God do lately. We have seen a couple of people make commitments recently, one involving quite an astonishing vision of Jesus. We have seen trickles throughout the New Frontiers church network. And generally more people seem to be interested in coming to Church/dicussing God. There is something fresh and new going on in peoples spirits, lets us pray and Believe God. Come one church, come on Lord, let it rain...

I really believe God prophesies through his people.

However, I agree with Anon and Fat Roland. The "Kenyan prophecy" doesn't have any detail. In fact the language is so vague you can make it fit any situation.

I have a lot of questions -
(1) why is Britain "the apple of Europe's eye"? Surely British people are likely to warm to this prophecy because it puts Britain on a pedestal.

(2) The bit about poverty and children dancing with mothers is lovely, but what does it mean? Can we make it mean whatever we want it to mean? Who are the city and village fathers? Who are the people with "small grain stores"? From my understanding of Scripture, God always uses metaphors which his people are familiar with in their particular context and culture. We live in 21st century Britain - we don't have villages, we don't have personal store houses for grain. We're not an agricultural society anymore. So why is this prophecy full of agricultural imagery?

(3) What specific deception, bloody hands and idolatry is God referring to? In the letters to the 7 churches in Revelation, Jesus is fairly specific when he chastises the churches (e.g. 'You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess...', 'You have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans') People can easily go "yeah, Britain has deception and idolatry amongst it", but so do hundreds of countries.

(4) Considering that HOPE is being promoted around the UK and beyond as the UK's 2008 year of mission, and that most Christians understand that mission must be undergirded with prayer, is it hardly surprising that there might be a prophecy that says "2007 is the year of preparation, and 2008 is a year of harvest"? I totally believe 2008 is going to be an awesome year of seeing God move like never before, but surely this might be down to the fact that, with initiatives like HOPE 2008 being promoted up and down the country, UK Christians will be fulfilling the Great Commission more than they might have other years?

(5) Who is testing this prophecy? Surely this prophecy could just be a human reflection on what is probably going to happen?

I hope I come across not as someone who lacks faith and promotes cynicism, but as a disciple who is trying to take seriously the biblical imperatives to test prophecies and pursue wisdom.

'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possession and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Everyday they continued in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved'.

I have read some of the comments with interest...I think one of the things we need to guard our hearts against is cynicsm and past disappointments... the critical factor is that we keep ourselves humble... we keep seeking His face...and we keep believing He will come and heal our land...MILLIONS are in the valley of decision... MILLIONS need to hear the good news of Jesus...MILLIONS are needing our prayer - "LORD HAVE MERCY, CHRIST HAVE MERCY" - lets keep open and expectant to JESUS...the author and perfector of our faith

I wept when I saw this prophesy I have prayed for my land since the 60s when the lord gathered me out of sin why would it be different.do you know what, things got much worse. I heard a prophecy in the 80s that said that generation of children would be the new generation of faith that daughter of mine then is 27 now I didnt see it and did it hurt. Why did I weep, there is a change the church isnt despondent any more I see now the Lord was pruning the vine the shoots are making new branches in churches every where (LOOK) there are posters going up, spring is here. It was in the christian book shop, then I went into The Rugby house of prayer,it was there,I said to a young American "I,m sick of praying for Britain" not that long ago,Now somthing as changed every christian I speak to seems to know it,let us all Pray into this.I,am now 70 I want to live to see the revival please Lord I do.

Lynn, I have 2 questions:
(1) What do you mean by "MILLIONS are in the valley of decision"?
(2) You also say "MILLIONS need to hear the good news of Jesus...MILLIONS are needing our prayer". Now, I really believe that the first statement is true, but if you mean the second statement in relation to the first I need some convincing. Here's me trying to be honest and vulnerable - I believe in prayer. I don't do it enough, nor do I understand it enough. But I also believe that some of the prayers we pray as Christians can stretch to wasting our and God's time (please hear me again - I'm not attacking prayer here, I'm just seeking to do it fruitfully) As I understand the Bible, God ALWAYS wants to save people. So I'm not convinced that "lost" people NEED our prayer in order to get saved - God's bringing his kingdom in whether we're with him or not. As I see it, people don't need our prayers to get saved. First, we NEED to get God's heart for the lost, and then we NEED to witness.

I admit I may have this all wrong, but are there any verses in the Bible AT ALL that tell us to pray for the lost?

Surely people are more likely to get saved when we really start obeying the Bible's commands to witness and proclaim the kingdom?

Discernment will help alot in this century for you to distinguish between the genuine and fake.its not in the wording, its in the spirit behind the vessel.pray for individual revival and God will change the nation thru u.if only God was loved there the way u idolize football, there would be a revival world over.
